Trouble Finding a Spot for Your Art?

You’ve found a gorgeous piece. Now you’re staring at it and not sure where its home within your home will be. It’s breakable, it’s lovely and you may be thinking, “I have no idea where to put this!”

I’ll admit, I like to buy pretty things, then I get home and I don’t know where the heck I’m going to put it. Example: a really cool, decorative calendar I bought for this year. I couldn’t find a place to put it! But I loved it so I got it anyway. A friend came over that night and saw the lovely addition to my house sitting on the kitchen table. She grabbed it and held it up to a small empty space above my wine rack. Perfect!

Everyone has one of those friends with homes that always look so perfectly put together. Some people just have that touch. (Hey, I’m a creative and sometimes I can even get stuck on how to arrange things!) So, you’ve found that amazing new piece of pottery, painting or sculpture? Invite [insert friend] over for cheese and wine and casually mention you need a place to put your new treasure. It worked for me!

IMG_4992If said friend is just too busy at the moment, no worries. I’ve loved displaying my work, especially the smaller items, on stacks of old books. They particularly look great clustered with things meaningful to you, whether that be a family photo, dried flowers from a special someone, a crystal-y votive candle holder or, perhaps, some more pottery! I could go on and on. But don’t be afraid to mix and match, you may be surprised what two things would look great sitting together.

Just be sure you’ve placed it in a low-traffic area. The artwork on my bookshelf is opposite of the actual books. I may as well be a 3-year-old when it comes to clumsiness. The further anything fragile is from my reach, the better!

I hope this helps anyone needing to find that perfect spot for their new (or old!) artwork, but if not, email a picture of your piece and the space where you want to put it and I’ll see what I can do!
